JOHN BROADIE
Wednesday night John Broadie, colored, was the cause of the most painful death of his wife, who was in an advanced stage of pregnancy.
Broadie's story is that he and his wife were engaged in a little, harmless sport. In some way Broadie shoved his wife, or rather she fell, out of the door, and owing to her condition she was almost disemboweled. She lingered in painful suspense till near morning when death came to relieve her.
There are several witnesses, we are informed, who state that Broadie was in a rage and kicked his wife in the stomach with the terrible results above stated. Be that as it may, the grand jury had the case up for investigation. Should this sad death have been the result of an accident, and Broadie's story is to be believed till proof is furnished he is to be pitied of all men, but if the result of a man's wild rage, he should suffer the severest penalty of the law.
