CHICK

MR. C.M. CHICK,

MR. C.M. CHICK,

Hopkinsville New Era
1878
MR. C.M. CHICK, who for some time past, has been selling goods at a storehouse situated between Beverly and Bennettstown in this county, was on yesterday morning found dead behind his bounter.  He had evidently been murdered, as his skull was terribly crushed, the wounds seems to be been
inflicted with a heavy club or bludgeon.  He was partially dressed, indicating that he had been aroused in the night and gotten up and gone into the store room to see what was wanted, where he was set upon and brutally murdered.  Nothing has yet been ascertained that would give any cluse to the perpetrator or perpetrators of this dastardly crime.  Mr. Chick was an honest, upright and kind hearted man and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.  We tender our sympathy to his family in their great bereavement and affliction.
