Born in Christian Co. 12 April 1901, son of Clabe and Lilly Smith East.
Member of the Christian Church.
Survivors: his parents; one daughter, Mrs. Lurlene Johnson and two grandchildren, Martene and Kenneth Johnson all of Evansville; three sisters, Mrs. Fairy Gilliland of Clark's Store, Mrs. Verlie Clark and Mrs. Annie Wortham both of Christian Co.; brother, Vernest East of the Palestine community; several nieces and nephews.

Member of Second Baptist Church. Her husband, Joe W. East who died in 1960, served as fire chief in Hopkinsville and was a state fire marshal.
Survivors: a daughter, Miss Sarah East of the Pennyrile Nursing Home; niece, Mrs. Harry Herron of Evansville, Ind.

Retired coal miner, member of the Ilsley Holiness Church.
Survivors: wife, Lana East; five sons, Wesley of Crofton, Paul and Ralph of Dawson Springs, Rupert and Russell both of Evansville, Ind.; three daughters, Miss Adosca East, Mrs. Patricia Demoss and Mrs. Sue Merrill all of Evansville; sister, Mrs. Clifford Bullard, of Evansville; 22 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Jesse Edward East of Hopkinsville, Ky.
Died Saturday 16 August 1952 at his home.
Born 5 March 1886 in Christian Co., son of John T. and Martha Ellen Ferrell East.
Farmer in Palestine section of North Christian Co. for a number of years, later worked in Herrin, Ill. before coming to Hopkinsville. Member of Second Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years.
Survivors: wife, Mrs. Ewing Bryant East; daughter, Roberta; two sons, Edward Jr. and Wayne East both of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Joe who is the Hopkinsville Fire Chief and Leslie East of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Mrs. Mollie Boyd of Christian Co.; several nieces and nephews.

JOE W EAST

Joe W. East, 76, Hopkinsville, Ky.
Died Friday 2 September 1960 at Jennie Stuart Hospital.
Born 13 May 1884 in Christian Co., son of John T. and Mattie Carmack East.
Retired in July from the state fire marshal's office, veteran fireman who served as fire chief from 1930 until his retirement in 1952. He joined the municipal unit in 1912.
Past president of the Kentucky and West Kentucky firemen's association and of the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club. Member of Second Baptist Church.
Survivors: wife, Beulah L. East; daugther, Miss Sarah Elizabeth East of Hopkinsville; brother, Leslie East of Phoenix, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Harry Herron of Evansville who made her home with the Easts for many years.
Services: Saturday 3 September 1960, burial in Riverside Cemetery. Keightley Funeral Home.

JOHN T EAST

John T. East, 90, Hopkinsville, Ky.
Died Tuesday 29 August 1940 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leona Fuller.
Born 20 January 1850 in Christian Co.
Retired farmer. Resident of Christian Co. but had lived in Hopkinsville since 1931. Member of the West Mt. Zoar Church serving as church clerk for nearly 50 years. After moving to Hopkinsville, he transferred his membership to Second Baptist Church. Married Martha Ellen Ferrell on 18 December 1873 and to this union 6 girls and six boys were born. She died in 1907 and three years later Mr. East married Mrs. M. E. Powell who died on 12 June 1934.
Survivors: four sons, Joe and Eddie East of Hopkinsville, Walter East of Herrin, Ill. and Leslie East of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Fuller and Mrs. Anderson Boyd of the county; four step-children; 28 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; a number of great great grandchildren.
Services: Wednesday 28 August 1940, burial in Hamby Cem.

Native of Christian Co., born 18 December 1880, daughter of John and Nancy Ann Dickinson Smith.
Survivors: three daughters, Mrs. Annie Wortham and Mrs. Elmer Clark both of Hopkinsville and Mrs. Turk Gilliland of Crofton; son, Vernest East of Hopkinsville; seven grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.

Employee of a soft drink bottling company in Herrin, Ill. Had resided there for 30 years of more, active in the Baptist church there.
Survivors: wife, Anna White East; two sons, Carl and Preston both of Herrin; three brothers, Fire Chief J. W. East and Ed East of Hopkinsville and Leslie East of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. R. A. Boyd of the Palestine community and Mrs. L. M. Fuller of Hopkinsville.
Services: Funeral services were held at the home in Herrin, Ill., graveside services Sunday 27 August 1944 at Riverside Cem., Hopkinsville.

W. T. East, 65, Guthrie, Ky.
Died Tuesday 4 April 1939 in a Clarksville, Tn. hospital.
Son of J. T. East, his mother died several years earlier.
Member of the Baptist church, active Mason. For the past 30 years was an employee of the L & N Railway, was in charge of the section workers at the L & N yards at Guthrie about 18 years.
Survivors: two children by his wife, Mrs. Guy Overby of Guthrie and Mrs. Jack Dowdy of Elkton; his second wife, Mrs. Emma East; his father; two sisters, Mrs. Anderson Boyd of Palestine and Mrs. L. M. Fuller of Hopkinsville; four brothers, J. W. East and Ed East of Hopkinsville, Walter East of Herrin, Ill., and Leslie East of Kingman, Ariz.; two adopted children, Kenneth East and Mrs. Bob Brady of Guthrie.
Services: arrangements not completed.
