Earl Harper, 77, of Cadiz, died Monday, Oct. 13, (1997), at Crittenden County Hospital in Marion, Ky., following a long illness.
A farmer, World War II veteran, member of Liberty Point Baptist Church, Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121, 32 degree Mason and Rizpah Shrine Temple of Madisonville. He was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Lyon County, a son of the late George Washington and Ethel Marshall Cummins Harper.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Harold Harper on June 24, 1979; a great-grandchild, Jessica Knickelbein; a brother Noble Harper; and a sister Francis Harper.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Wynn Harper; two daughters, Janice Litchfield of Gracey, and Debbie Rascoe Clark of Mansfield Texas; 10 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Harper and Woodson Harper, both of Caldwell County, and a sister, Geneva Harper Wyatt of West Frankfort, Ill.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Oct 16, at 2 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz with the Rev. Ronnie Sivells officiating.
Burial will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery in Caldwell County, Ky.

Former Hopkinsville Citizen Dies in Lone Star State
News has been received in the city of the death of Mr. William w. Harper, a former citizen of Hopkinsville, which occurred at his home in Gainesville, Texas. Death was sudden and was caused from congestion. He was forty four y ears old and leaves a wife. Deceased was a son of Mr. B. S. Harper, now of Evansville. The family moved here from New Orleans about twenty years ago and later Mr. Harper went to Evansville. His son moved to the Lone Star State and has since been engaged in the dry goods business. He was a very successful business man and had accumulated considerable property. He was a near relative of the Trice and Waller families of this city and also had relatives in Trigg county. Mr. Harper was in this city about three years ago on a visit to his sister, Miss Georgia Harper, who was attending Bethel College here at that time.
