Funeral services for Bertha Ellen Hendon, 94, of Murray, were conducted on March 16, 2001 at J H Churchill Fuenral Home in Murray.

The Rev. Sammy Cunningham, C. C. Brasher and david Brasher officiated the services.  Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the LBL area.

Mrs. Hendon died on March 12 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville Tenn.

Mrs. Hendon was born on October 29, 1906, in Trigg County.  She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mary Retter Green Ross.

Mrs. Hendon was a home maker and a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Murray.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther F. Hendon.

Survivors include two daughters and a son in law, Josephine Whatlin of Murray and Rosa and Frank Turner of Crown Point, Indiana ; and two sons and daughters in law, Ira and Norma Hendon of Dover, Tenn., and John and Gail Hendon of Westland, Mich; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 31 great reat grandchildren.

LUTHER HENDON, 83, of Murray, Route 3, died at 1 p.m. Sunday at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Land Between the Lakes.
He was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. BERTHA ROSS HERNDON, two daughters, ROSA TURNER of Crown Point, Ind., and JOSEPHINE WHALIN of Indianapolis; two sons, IRA HENDON of Hammond, Ind and JOHN HENDON of Westland, Mich; two sisters, GERTIE JOYCE of Paducah, and ELLA REE COLSON of Peoria, Ill; a brother, HOY HENDON of Darden Tenn.  10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

  Friends may call at the funeral home after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
