Pennyrile Deaths – April 15, 1999
James Edward Newcomb, 69, Winchester Driver, died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following an illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Southside Church of Christ, with Terry Alan Jones and Walter Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow in green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at Lamb Funeral Home.

A native of Clinton County, he was born Nov 113, 1929.  He was the son of the late Noah Crit and Velma Lee Harris Newcomb and was sales director of counselor operations for Fort Campbell in Oak Grove, was a member of Southside Church of Christ and was a fraternal member of the Non-commissioned Officers Association for 27 years.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Gaither Newcomb; three sons, James K. Newcomb, Clarksville, Tenn; David Wayne Newcomb, Christian County, and Howard Daniel “Danny” Newcomb, Memphis, Tenn; a daughter, Deborah Farmer, Clarksville; a brother, Howard Newcomb, Cadiz; two sisters, Johnnie Lou Summers, Springfield, Mo; and Jo Anna Newcomb, Clinton, Ohio; and 11 grand children and 11 great grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the David Lee King Scholarship Fund.
