ROSCOE A SAMPLES

Roscoe A. Samples, formerly of Union County, died on Feb. 24 in Hobart, Ind., where he had lived for 52 years.
Samples was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II, and was a retired employee of E.I.&E. Railroad.
As a boy living in Uniontown, he attended St. Agnes Catholic School and served as an altar boy at St. Agnes Church. In Hobart, he was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Spencer Hersh and is survived locally by a brother-in-law, James Wiley Padgett, of Morganfield.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Lyon Samples; three daughters and sons-in-law, June and Lou Mason, of Crawsfordville, Ind., Marilyn and Jeff Hersh, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Patricia and John Welch, of Hobart; six grandchildren; one sister Ruth Crowdus, of Evansville, Ind.; one brother, Nelson and Jean Samples, also of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Hobart. Interment was in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, Ind.
