A J WYATT

Mr A.J. Wyatt, formerly a resident of this county, after a short illness, died in Henando Florida, April 22, 1886.
Mr Wyatt was born in Fayette county, Ky., in 1824. He graduated from Franklin College, near Nashville Tenn., and located in this city about 1886, and met with marked success as a teacher.
While here he was married to Sarah, eldest daughter of Dr. P.W. Drysden, dec'd. After his marriage he conducted a select boarding school for young men near Newstead, in this county. In 1867, he moved to Union City, Tenn., where his home has been since that time. Those who knew Mr Wyatt intimately will remember him as a quiet, dignified Christian gentleman.
His relatives and friends will be pleased to know, that although he died far away from those who knew him best, that there he found kind hands to minister lovingly to his wants, and that as the shadows of death gathered about him, sustained by the Christian's hope, he looked forward to a blissful immortality beyond the grave. Ike W. WYATT Dies Wednesday

Prominent Resident of Southern Trigg, Dies at Age of 82

Mr. Ike W. WYATT passed away at his home in the southern part of Trigg county on Wednesday morning June 5th 1940. He was 82 years and six months old. He was born in Trigg county, near his home and had lived in the same community all his life. He was married to Miss Armenty BROWN and their children are: Mrs. Gradie CAMPBELL, Mrs. Dillis MCCAIN, Mr. Elmo WYATT and Mr. Euel WYATT and Miss Monico WYATT of the Southern part of the county; Mrs. S.M. STAGNER, of Cadiz; and Tandy WYATT of Granite City, Ill. There are also 22 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. It can be truthfully said of Mr. WYATT that he was one of the most widely known men of the country, not only in Trigg county, but surrounding counties. There was scarely a man of mature years of the county that did not know and like Mr. WYATT. He was just about as much at home in Hopkinsville, Clarksville, Murray or Mayfield as in Cadiz as he visited these places often and made it a point to meet and get acquainted with most everyone. His quick wit and sunny disposition attracted attention anywhere he chanced to be. If he stopped on the street anywhere he was sure to engage the first man he saw, in conversation and soon had a crowd around him listening to some funny joke he was sure to tell, or play some prank on something or somebody that attracted attention.

He was a good husband and father, was a good neighbor and all his neighbors were his warmest friends as attested by the exceedingly large gathering at his funeral which was held at Shady Grove Church, near his home on Thursday afternoon, June 6th. Services were conducted by Rev. J.N. DARNALL at his request. Interment was at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Mr. WYATT joined the Delmont Baptist Church many years ago and was a firm believer in the faith.

He was a farmer all his life, dealing extensively in livestock. He owned a good farm and a nice home and enjoyed the society of his friends and family and was never happier than when his children and grandchildren visited him.

A good man and a fine citizen has gone, and will be sincerely missed as much as any man in the county.

He had been in failing health several years but not until lately had his condition grown serious and the end was not unexpected by his family. His wife passed away several years ago and his daughter, Monico, had been his homemaker and watched over him in his later years both in health and in sickness---being his constant companion at all times.

In Memory (Lara Arminty Wyatt)

On July 15, 1923, after so many days of weary suffering, the death angel visited the home of Mr. Ike WYATT and took from him his darling wife.  Her sweet spirit was summoned to the endless summer land.  She was kind and affectionate; was a friend to all, and to know her was to love her.  She professed a hope in Christ many years ago and united with the Shady Grove Baptist Church and lived a pure unspotted life to show others there was a living reality in the religion she professed.

She was the idol of the home, being a loving wife and a dear loving mother.  She was fifty-three years, three months and fifteen days old.  No one only those who have passed through such dark deep water can ever know how lonely and heart broken we feel.  We do not mourn as they who have no hope but as those who one day expect to meet their loved ones around the great throne and spend eternity in praising Him who has washed our robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb, but so hard to see the tender form of my darling mother encircled in the cold arms of death.  We feel that Mama is not dead, but transplanted to a more congenial clime where she may bask forever in the glorious rays of the Son of Righteousness.

She leaves six children; three sons, and three daughters, and a loving husband, besides her many friends and loved ones to mourn her death, but there is only one thing we can do that is to trust in our Saviour, who suffered and died for us, and prepare to meet dear Mother in that great beyond where there will be no more partings, no more sad good-byes and while she sleeps the long sleep of death her pure spirit has been gently wafted to the far away home of the soul.

By her loving daughter,
Mrs. D.G. McCAIN
