William J. Steele was the eldest child of my great-grandfather Walter Batie Steele. I have a very poor copy of an old newspaper article reporting William's death. Not being from the area, I'm unaware of the newspaper's name. I believe it was printed on June 22,1904. Wm. J. Steele died on June 13, 1904 to the best of my knowledge. The article begins: 'A Prominent Citizen Who Died Recently In Robards'...In memory of William J. Steele who was born in Crittenden County, Kentucky August 23, 1854 and died June 13, 1904. Willie Steele as he was familiarly known, was one of --- best citizens and neighbors in the community; very industrious; always had a plesent greeting for his friends and neighbors whereever he met them and was respected and honored by all who knew him...' She had one son George Washington HUGHEY BORN 23 Jan 1832 in Livingston Co now Crittenden and died 5 Oct 1909 Galena, Stone Co, Mo. Mary Ann married Samuel J. CRIDER (27 Dec 1804-6 Mar 1879) 8 May 1855 in Crittenden Co. and had Sarah (Susan) E. CRIDER CASH 16 Mar 1856-3 Jan 1897 and J. G. CRIDER Jan 1859- ca 1865. I would love to hear from anyone connected to any of these surnames. I would especially like to learn when Mary Ann passed away and where, I know she was on the 1870 Crittenden County Ky census and have not been able to find her since then.

My GG Granfather John Thomas Tinsley was buried in DEER CREEK CEM, Crittenden Co, Ky on 12 March 1884. He fought in the Civil War, UNION, 52nd Kentucky Mounted Infantry, Company B. I would like to know where Deer Creek Cemetery is located, and if that cemetery has ever had information published on the tomb stones. His wife, my GG Grandmother is buried in the BOYD CEMETERY on Croft farm, and I would like to know where that cemetery is located. Her name is Permelia Jane "JUSTICE" Tinsley. The Matthews Cemetery located just outside Francis, KY is being taken care of by Peggy Deen, 4261 St. Rt. 70, Marion KY 42061. It cost $60 for each mowing. The cemetery has been very well taken care of under her. Every time I'm in KY visiting I always stop and pay for a mowing and when I can't come I send her money. Granted we are into the winter and no mowing is necessary but perpetual care was probably not even thought of when some of our ancestors were buried there. I have two Rebecca Bishop Matthews wife of Zachariah C. Matthews and his mother Sarah. Would you please consider sending her a few dollars to help care for our very own. We owe it them. Searching for information AND sources on my great- grandfather, John Ervan TANT, and his ancestors. Information listed below is what I have compiled. I am in the process of sourcing the data. John E. Tant was born 1873 in KY, and died in St. Louis MO. He married Sarah Elizabeth Griffith Evans about 1900 in IL. It is believed that they divorced before 1930. Census records show John living: 1880 Crittenden KY in household of Ruthy Bateman (grandmother); 1910 New Madrid MO as head of household; and 1930 St. Louis MO as head of household. His parents are Levi Tant and Parthenia Isabelle Bateman. Levi Tant was born 17 Feb 1847 in TN, and died 18 Oct 1894. They married 19 Oct 1870 in Crittenden KY. Parthenia was born 1849 in Crittenden KY, and died 13 Dec 1875 in Crittenden KY. Census records show Levi living: 1850 Marshall KY in the household of Lettia Wallis; and 1870 Crittenden KY in the household of JW Bettis. A Crittenden Kentucky land grant was surveyed in Levi's name on 11 Apr 1873. Census records show Parthenia living: 1850 Crittenden KY in household of John Bateman (father); and 1870 Crittenden KY in household of Ruthy Allison (mother). Their children were John Ervan Tant and Christina Etta Tant. Mother of Levi Tant is Elizabeth Tant, who was also listed in the 1850 Marshall KY census in the Lettia Wallis household. Elizabeth was born about 1814 in NC. Tena Tant (also listed) is believed to be Levi's sister. Parents of Parthenia Isabelle Bateman are John Bateman and Ruthy Payne. John was born 1816 in TN, and died Mar 1863 in Crittenden KY. They married April 1838 in Crittenden KY. Ruthy was born 1817 in TN, and died after 1880 in Crittenden KY. Rance's parents were William Lynch and Permelia Perkins. I have info on Permelia's ancesters but nothing on William's. Rance's first wife was Rachel Hallum and they had 4 chilren: Edson, Lula, William, and Mattie. His children by his second wife (Elizabeth Boulton?) were Leta, Roxie Ann, Althea, Joshua, Virgie, Mattie, Benton, and Adelia/Deloria. His third wife was Hannah Frances Bennett and their children were Luther, Bertha (twin), and William Bert (twin). The family was listed on the 1910 Crittenden County census: Rance H Linch 69, Hanna F 40, Joshie 24, Ben 17, Deloria 14, Luther 12, William B 7, and Bertha B 7. Bert and Bertha were born in KY, the others in TN. The two oldest sons, Edson and William, are also on the 1910 Critten County census with their families: Edson Lynch 38, Eliza 36, Rance 15, Lucy 13, Letha 2; and William C Linch 30, Homer 22, Rance L. 6, Edson B. 4, Joshaway 1. When Rance H. died in 1913, his widow Frances took her 3 children and moved to Stewart Co TN, but I believe several of his older children remained in Crittenden County. My great-grandfather Joel William Agee, who was from Smith County, TN, died in Crittenden County 30 Oct 1918 . He is buried at the Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetary. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Regular Baptist Church. My grandmother, his daughter, Nonie Agee Garrison is now 94 years old. It is told that my ancestor Zachariah Mathews was a minister in Crittenden Co., does anyone know what church? He and his wife Rebecca Bishop moved from Hopkins Co. to Crittenden Co. before the 1850 Census and he died in Crittenden Co. before the 11th of April 1864. Rebecca is buried at the Mathews Cemetery having died in Dec 1854, outside of Francis, along with his mother Sarah and his brother John and John's 3 wives. Does anyone know where Zachary and his father are buried. There is what looks like empty space to the right of Rebecca's grave, are they buried there? I hope there is a kind person out there that can do a census lookup from the 1900 Fords Ferry information. I am at my wits end on this one. 1870 and 1880 census of Fords Ferry, in Crittenden county show George Campbell age 7 and 16 respectively. Father as Frank (could be Francis) or F. A. 43 years old. In 1880 they are living with Willam H. Roberts. Both George and his father are listed as carpenters. George is my grandfather, and I've been chasing him for over two years now. I have reason to believe these Campbells moved on to Union county, but to date no hard evidence. For that matter, that this is my Grandfather is pure speculation. If I could find out more about these folks I may be able to claim him. Also wondering if anyone can name a cemetary in or around the Fords Ferry area I could look into. Thanks in advance.

James B Cullen, b. 10/4/1827 - d. 3/31/1904 - m. 11/12/1851 to Mary Ellen Doris served in the Civil War. He lived in the Marion Twp area. I do not know which side he served on, but here is what he said: Civil War, Private, enlisted 1 Aug. 1863, served one year, 10 months. Honorably discharged for disablility. Was in Reg. 65, Co. E. fought in 2 battles; 6 or 8 skirmashes. I would like to know which army he served in and if this Reg. was with the army of KY or another state. I have found my families in Kentucky to be living in Livingston Co but can't find where George Robertson who died 13 Sep 1845 and his wife Ellender are buried. The rest of the family are buried in a family cemetery near Lola and in another near Cut-Off Road in Livingston Co. George would be my GGGrandfather he died not 90 days before my GGrandfather Walter. Walter and wife and most of his family are buried in one ceme but his father and mother are missing. Could someone check the records of the cemeteries in Crittenden Co and see if there are any Robertson's buried by those names. We think that she lived till the 1860's.Thank you for your help. All of my family on my mother and father's side were born in Crittenden County. My ggrandfather was Lewis Walker, married twice, both women named Mary. He had 20 children, one of which was my grandfather Thomas. My father was Albert Vernon, one of 12 children. Any information would be helpful as I am just starting my search. My ggrandfather was Rev. C. O. Kinnon who lived in Marion, but founded the Southern or General Baptist Churches West of the Missisippi. My grandmother was Lora Mae born about 1895. I am looking for information about my great-great grandfather, John H. Rushing, reported in 1900 Livingston Cty. census to be born in 1848 in Tennessee. I have no idea who his parents were, nor do I know who his first 2 wives were. John enlisted in the Union Army in Golconda, Illinois, obviously lying about his age. I have been unable to obtain a service record or pension file from NATF though family history has him serving with Sherman's army and his widow collected a pension. His oldest son, William Sherman Rushing, named after Gen. Sherman, lived in Tolu for many years and is buried in Crittenden County. Other children included Cora, Asa, H. F. (Frank) - my great grandfather, Calvin, Etta, Lucy, Allen. Grandpa Rushing lived in both Livingston and Crittenden counties and outlived several wives. He moved to Piggott, Arkansas after 1900 and died there. I know that other Rushings moved to Crittenden County from Tennessee, and I'm hoping that someone will know something about John H. I have searched the Tennessee census records for "Johns" about the right age and there are a dozen or so possibilities. For some reason - just a hunch - I think that his parents might have been David and Selena Rushing from Humpreys County, Tenn. John appears in the 1880 Crittenden County census with wife Nancy. Nancy may have been John's first wife, but not the mother of his oldest child because Nancy was 26 and William Sherman was 13 in the 1880 census. That would have made Nancy giving birth at 13 - possible, but not likely. A family member told me that Sherman was born out of wedlock. Does anyone have any information about this John Rushing?
