ABOUT KENNETH

Kenneth grew up in Princeton, Ky., attending East Side Elementary and graduating from Caldwell County High School, Princeton, Ky., where he was president of his senior class.
After his retirement Ken decided to take up genealogy full time, something that he had been doing part time as a hobby since he was a teenager in high school.

After researching his Gilkey family to his satisfaction, he decided to publish a book
"Gilkeys of Early Kentucky, 1780-2000". This book begins with William, David and John Gilkey in Nelson Co., Ky. in 1780. William patented land in 1798, located on the Dry Fork of Eddy Creek, Caldwell Co., Ky........... 201 pages. $ 22.00 + $3.00 S&H

Our next project was another family history "Oliver Ken-Folks"
Vol. I and Vol. II
It begins with William Oliver b. 1693 in Maryland following descendants down to the present. This family history includes Oliver families in Caldwell, Lyon, Trigg, and Crittenden, and Marshall counties in Ky. and other states which include: Arkansas,
Mississippi and Texas. These books sell as a set, hard cover only, with 58 pages of photos from very old to recent.......a total of 1,317 pages. THIS Book Is Sold OUT !!

We also assisted Barbara Smith in the transcription of the 1930 Lyon Co., Ky. census.
Price which includes postage.....$23.00 ppd.
This book can be purchased from
Simmons Historical Publications P.O. Box 108 Mayfield, Ky. 42066

Our next two books were the 1880 and 1910 Lyon Co., Ky. census, which we transcribed and published, both have full name indexes.$25.00 ppd.

Another book we have is a reprint of the book Nineteen Years Not Guilty which was written by my great uncle Leonard Hankins in 1952. It is about the nineteen years he spent in a Minnesota Prison for crimes that he did not committ, and his final release.
This book which includes some family history of the Thomas Morgan Hankins and Paulina Elnora (Calvert) Hankins family was reprinted in 2003. It is to be sold with the proceeds going to the perpetual fund of the family cemetery where Leonard is buried.
Nineteen Years Not Guilty - $23.00 + $3.00 S&H

1920 Lyon Co., Ky. census, $25.00 ppd., it was published in December 2004. This completes all of the Lyon Co., Ky. census records that have been released to date.

We have just completed transcribing the 1920 Crittenden Co., Ky. census, (hard cover only) $45.00 ppd., it was published in November 2008.

Some of the families Ken researches are Gilkey, Oliver, Waters and Lindsey.

ABOUT PEGGY

I was born in Princeton, Ky. I attended East Side Elementary and Caldwell Co. High School in Princeton.

My Hankins line begins in Kentucky with Samuel J. & Luticia (Corley) Hankins. They with most of their children came to Crittenden County, Ky. from Smith Co.,Tn. shortly before 1870.
They were living next household to Luticia's brother William Turner Lee "Buck" Corley in the 1870 Crittenden Co., Ky. census.

Another favorite family for me to research is the Calvert family of Caldwell Co., Ky. I joined the DAR on Spencer Calvert who was a Revolutionary War Soldier.

I also research the surnames of Crider, James, Wales, Pugh, and White among others. I am also a Morse descendant, with Ebenezer Morse a Revolutionary War Patriot as my Morse ancestor.
Although I do not actively research this line, I am very proud of my Morse ancestry..
If you are interested in this family, I know many others that do research them.

For more information on Ebenezer Morse

William (Ashurst) Asher, William Blackburn, William Bailey, Turner Lee Wilkerson are also among my Revolutionary War Ancestors.
I am very proud of them all !!

ABOUT TOBY

Let me tell you about the light of our life Toby.
He is a 6 1/2 lb Bischon/Poodle, solid
white, with the blackest eyes and the sweetest little guy you ever saw. He loves everyone and never meets a stranger. He is especially fond of a little girl named Amber who lives just down our street and thinks he has to go see her everyday. He is the most excited when I tell him "the kids are coming" (our grandchildren).

TOBY UPDATE:
2008
Toby is 12 years old now, he has lost a lot of hearing but he is so smart he has learned some hand signals very easily and responds to them.
He still loves his walks and his toys but just for shorter peroids of time
And we love him more than ever!

July 4, 1996-Oct. 18, 2012
We lost our sweet Toby to Cushings Disease.
He gave us so many years of pleasure,
and he will always be missed!
